The store is intended to serve the Northern towns in Cebu, especially Danao City, Sogod, and Catmon. This is also the first one for Metro in the northern region.
The first Metro store was opened in the downtown Cebu City 31 years ago. Today, the company is taking a strong business development program that allowed them to open stores outside of Cebu.
Aside from Metro supermarket and department store, they already have Metro hypermarket, wholesale, and Metro Fresh ‘n Easy.
The group is aiming to reach 100 outlets by 2017. The outlet in Carmen is the 42nd store of the group. They will be open their next outlets in Antipolo soon. They are eyeing on eight more locations in Cebu, as well as other outlets in Negros Occidental and other parts of the Visayas.
“Metro is careful in choosing the site and targeting the market,” Christian Nervegno, supermarket managing director of Viscal Development Corp., said.
They are now adapting a business model to give the right comfort and price to the
customers.
Metro’s expansion is not just limited to the number of stores, but also to their services and products in the store. These include the Metro Pharmacy, Suisse Cottage, and Metro Gourmet CafĂ©. (ADO)
